Avena partners with growers and processors bringing safe, sustainable, nutritious oat and pulse ingredients to consumers around the globe. We offer processors four ranges of healthy, sustainable ingredients, which are non-GMO, and available conventional, gluten-free and certified-organic. These are:

Purity Protocol Ingredients. Pure, uncontaminated, gluten-free oat ingredients for people with celiac disease, gluten-sensitivity, or wheat allergies.

BEST Ingredients. Pulse flours and grits, cracked pulses, as well as oat hull fiber and pea hull fibers.

Best Cooking Pulses. Naturally polished green and yellow split peas, cleaned peas, beans, chickpeas and lentils.

Companion Ingredients. Peas, beans, chickpeas, lentils, and oats, as well as flours, grit, and fibers processed for the pet food industry.


Our Regina SK facility is a dedicated gluten-free and allergen-free oat mill. The oats are grown using the “Purity Protocol” system. The Purity Protocol applies from farm to customer and offers traceability, quality, and food safety that are second to none. Products include rolled oats, granola rolled oats, quick oat flakes, hefty oak flakes, fine grind oat flour, and steel cut oats. These are sold mostly in North America.

We also operate two pulse dedicated facilities. Pulses are the non-oilseeds of the legume family, of which dried peas, edible beans, lentils and chickpeas are the common types. At Rowatt SK, a proprietary process produces split peas that are known throughout the world for their premium quality. Rowatt also has a dedicated cleaning plant where whole peas, chickpeas, beans and lentils are cleaned. Products are shipped throughout North, Central and South America, as well as other destinations.

At Portage la Prairie MB we use some of the output from Rowatt and other locations to make a variety of pea hull fibers, pulse flour and pulse grit products that are sold into food ingredient markets mainly in North America and Europe.
